Shirley passed away peacefully between 6:30 and 7:00 this morning while everyone was sleeping. The nurse checked on her at 6:30 and she was still with us and when they checked again at 7:00 she was gone.

As sad as we all are, here on earth, we can find peace in knowing she is finally home with God. She doesn't have to worry about anything and she doesn't hurt anymore :) And she gets to see Grandpa again too. :)

I married into the family so I didn't know Shirley until sometime after 1974. And even though we only saw her on our annual summer visits, (we live in Roseville near Detroit), this beautiful freckle faced red headed country girl always wore a big smile and was generous with hugs.
Shirley:I know you're busy today reuniting with all who have gone before. And I know you're busy spending time with the Savior asking all those questions that we save for such a time as this. But through hope and faith we look forward to the day when we'll be together again and reminice. We're told there will be no tears where you are but my earthly form thinks there'll be a few tears of joy. A small request; we've sent Penelope our little Puggle to you today so that you can care for her since we no longer could. You can take care of each other. We'll miss you both.
Teresa, you did an oustanding job maintaining this blog especially for all of us so far away. Thank you.
